Entrepreneurship Wise Move For Unemployed Graduates
KOTA KINABALU, Feb 14 (Bernama) — Unemployed graduates should consider venturing into business, said Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Idris Haron.
He said this would be a wise move for them in view of the uncertain global economic situation.
“Graduates who have difficulty getting employed should change their thinking by finding their own sources of income and not hope too much for salaried jobs,” he told reporters after launching the Higher Education Carnival 2009, here, Saturday.
To help this group of graduates, Idris said the ministry had come up with a long-term programme which included focusing on the job market needs.
He said the programme was specially targeted at final-year undergraduates, focusing on enhancing their communication skills, command of English, usage of information technology and mastering a third language as the lack of these contributed to increased unemployment in the country.
Idris said the ministry was also conducting a study on graduates who were still unemployed after six months of completing their studies.
